Christian’s Cranberry Sauce

This cranberry sauce is an easy, tart addition to just about anything. Serve with turkey, as a sandwich condiment, or add to your cake, pancakes, or muffins. Scale the recipe to feed any crowd size!

You Will Need:

  • One 12 oz. package of fresh cranberries
  • 1 C granulated sugar
  • 1 C apple cider
  • 1 orange (zest and juice)
  • 1 tsp pie spice (or more to taste)
  • Pepper to taste

You Will Do:

  • Rinse the cranberries in a colander and place the rinsed, patted dry berries into a Dutch oven or saucepan over medium-high heat
  • Add sugar and cider and keep stirring until the sauce begins to boil (the berries will pop dramatically. That means it’s working!)
  • Add zest from the orange and hand-squeeze the remaining juice from the same orange
  • Add pie spice and pepper (and anything else you want to experiment with)
  • Keep stirring. A lot. Maybe 20 minutes or more until the berries break down and the sauce looks… saucy
  • Lower the heat as needed to prevent sploshing, and keep stirring until finished. Good things take time
  • Serve!
